Abstract
The pharmacy profession in Australia is close to having a nationally embedded competency framework for the development of hospital pharmacists particularly in their early years post registration. The authors suggest that the timing is now right to address the needs of more advanced practitioners, who would benefit from a framework to support their development as well as a means of recognising their contribution to patient care.
